Adding AI to Your Product Without the Gimmicks
How to bolt genuinely useful AI features onto an existing product — focused on outcomes, not hype.
"Add AI" is on every roadmap right now. The teams that win aren't the ones that ship a chatbot — they're the ones that use AI to remove a real chore from their users' day.
Start from the friction, not the model
Pick the most repetitive, annoying task in your product and ask whether a model can do it faster or better. That's your first AI feature — not a generic assistant.
Keep the human in control
Good AI features suggest, draft, and accelerate. They don't silently decide. Give users a clear way to review, edit, and undo.
Measure the win
If you can't point to a metric the feature moved — time saved, conversion up, support tickets down — it's a demo, not a feature.
